A twelve-session starter course for those wishing to take up the Japanese Martial Art of Kendo will run 3 times a year, depending on numbers by British Kendo Association coaches who hold senior BKA grades will supervise the course. Men and women of all ages practise kendo.

The course will be held at Smallheath Leisure Centre, Muntz St. Wednesday evenings starting at 7pm. From the eighth session, members will join the dojo proper on Wednesday evenings, where there will be supervised practice. There will be grading, which will also be open to other dojo members, in the twelfth week.

The cost of this course is £90 which includes a shinai, a bokken, a te-nugui, a chin protector, useful literature, some use of club armour where available, all tuition and dojo fees for the period and a half price first grading. Also included is a three-month temporary membership of the BKA, which covers insurance, though Kendo is an activity with a very good safety record. Reductions are made for those who possess any of the listed equipment.

Because of the costs to the club, that element concerned with the hire of premises and BKA membership is non-returnable. After the first lesson the total fee must be considered non-returnable, though every effort will be made to sell on used shinai, bokken, te-nugui and clean chin protectors.

If you wish to take part please send the information below, with the fee, to
E. Schofield, South View, Cross Lane, Braunston, Daventry, NN11 7HH in advance of the course or email kendosec@talktalk.net

Please note there is no beginners course at the stratford venue. However, beginners are very welcome.
